地勢が活かされた魅力的な坂の緑道で、このまちの”ちょっと先の日常”を妄想したマーケットです。

魅力的な街には共通して、目には見えないけれど確かに感じられる”街がまとう期待感”のようなものがあると思います。そのような曖昧なものを誰かと共感できた時にはその街で何か始めたくなります。それらの衝動が少しずつ繋がり、街がまとう期待感を”ちょっと先の日常”として妄想し、カタチにしてみようと企画したのが「丘の途中のマーケット」です。

メイン会場となる「中央緑道」は、川と公園を結ぶ生活道路で、河岸段丘による約5mの高低差など地勢がそのまま活かされた視線の抜けが楽しい変化に富んだ坂の緑道です。もともとは戦災復興で整備された緑道ですが、2019年から2021年にかけて、「道であり、広場でもある」という「みちひろば」空間をコンセプトに、楽しく安全に歩ける導線とひと休みできる環境を備えた空間を目指して改修され（設計：オンサイト計画設計事務所）、2021年4月から利用できるようになった古くて新しい緑道です。

私たちは、周辺で進めている民間プロジェクトと合わせて、公共空間（＝「中央緑道」）のありうべき日常を自分たちなりに描くことで、私有地と公有地の境界に縛られず、アクティビティから空間を思考するための実験として丘の途中のマーケットを運営しています。

The market is an imaginary “everyday life a little further down the hill” of this town on an attractive slope greenway that makes the most of its geographical features.
I believe that all attractive towns have something in common: a sense of anticipation that is invisible to the eye, but is certainly palpable. When I can share this vague feeling with someone, I want to start something in that town. The “Market in the Middle of the Hill” is an attempt to connect these impulses little by little, to fantasize and give form to the sense of anticipation that the town will wear as “everyday life just a little bit further down the road”.
The main venue, “Chuo Ryokudo (Central Greenway),” is a road for daily life that connects the river and the park. The 5-meter height difference due to the river terrace and other geographical features are utilized as they are, creating a varied greenway with a pleasant sight line. Originally, this greenway was developed as part of the reconstruction from the war, but between 2019 and 2021, it was renovated with the concept of a “Michi Hiroba” space that is both a road and a plaza, aiming to create a space with a fun and safe walking route and an environment where people can take a break (design: On-Site Planning and Design Office), and will be open for use from April 2021. It is an old and new greenway that has been open for use since April 2021.
We are operating the market in the middle of the hill as an experiment to think about space from the perspective of activities, without being bound by the boundary between private and public lands, by creating our own vision of what the public space (= “Central Greenway”) should be in everyday life, in conjunction with the private projects that are underway in the surrounding area.
