瀬戸の学生寮（松千代館）
愛知県瀬戸市内の商店街にある築100年を超える元旅館「松千代館」を「人が集える学びの場」へ再生するリノベーションプロジェクト。
「松千代館」は、愛知県瀬戸市の「せと末広町商店街」にあり、陶磁器の運搬業に関わる商人の方々が利用する旅館であったが、約20年間から空き家状態となっていた。
この「松千代館」は、歴史的建造物の保存再生、商店街活性化、地場産業の支援、空き家問題… と様々な課題を包含している。そこに可能性を感じ、「人が集える学びの場」を目指して、任意団体「松千代館 再生の会」を発足し、松千代館を借り受け、自主事業として再生を進めることになった。
建物は、松千代館の持つ風情を極力残すため、傷んでいる部分の補修と一部改修のみとしながら、１階をギャラリーやイベントスペースとして、２階は６室の学生シェアハウスへと再生した。
今後も、活用しながら継続的に改修を進め、この松千代館を後世につなぐを目標としている。
This renovation project aims to transform “Matsuchiyokan,” a former inn over 100 years old located in a shopping district in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, into a “learning space where people can gather.”
“Matsuchiyokan” is situated in the “Seto Suehirocho Shopping District” in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture. It was once an inn used by merchants involved in the ceramics transport industry, but had stood vacant for approximately 20 years.
“Matsuchiyokan” encompasses various challenges, including the preservation and revitalization of historic buildings, the revitalization of the shopping district, support for local industries, and the issue of vacant properties. Recognizing the potential in this project, the voluntary group “Matsuchiyokan Revitalization Association” was formed with the goal of creating a “place where people can gather and learn.” The group leased Matsuchiyokan and is proceeding with its revitalization as an independent initiative.
To preserve the building’s unique charm as much as possible, we limited our work to repairing damaged areas and making partial renovations. We transformed the first floor into a gallery and event space, and the second floor into a six-room student shared house.
Moving forward, we plan to continue renovations while actively utilizing the space, with the goal of passing Matsuchiyokan on to future generations.
