岡崎市で一番古いカメラ屋を「マイクロホテル」（宿泊施設）にリノベーションした計画。

ホテルの受付を1階奥とし、手前をカフェにすることで、ホテル利用者以外も訪れやすい場所が目指された。2・3階は客室（合計６室）で、3階には宿泊客専用のテラスがある。

「マイクロホテル」とは、日本で誕生したカプセルホテルに着想を得て、アメリカで誕生した宿泊業の１つの業態で、①観光拠点として優れたローケション、②コンパクトな客室、③共用部に重点が置かれた面積配分、といった特徴を持ち、ニューヨーク、サンフランシスコなどの地価が高く、高密度な都市部で多くの事例が見られる。

①ANGLEは、「暮らし感光」をコンセプトに掲げ、ローカルな暮らしを体験することが観光であり、それら観光拠点、つまり日常の暮らしの延長にあるお店や場所にアクセスしやすい場所に立地する。

②客室は、「（大きな）荷物を置く」「服をかける」「荷を解く」「パソコンを開く」「スマホを操作する」「眠る」などの想定される所作に対してあえて段差を設けることで、日本人特有の上履きの文化を取り入れつつ所作を整理した。また、既存開口部を最大限に活かすことで、コンパクトながらも居心地の良い居室にした。

③1階のカフェは街に、3階のテラスは宿泊客に、それぞれ開かれた場所になっており、これら共用部に重点が置かれた面積配分となっている。

海外では高密度な都市部で展開されたマイクロホテルという業態に対して、ANGLEでは低密度な中心市街地という周辺環境の豊かさを活かしており、地方都市から発信するオリジナルのマイクロホテルが計画できたのではないかと思う。



A project to renovate Okazaki City’s oldest camera shop into a “micro hotel” (accommodation facility).

By locating the hotel reception at the back of the first floor and converting the front area into a café, the goal was to create a space that is accessible to visitors other than hotel guests. The second and third floors house guest rooms (six in total), and the third floor features a terrace exclusively for guests.

“Microhotels” are a type of lodging business that originated in the United States, inspired by Japan’s capsule hotels. They are characterized by: (1) an excellent location as a tourist hub, (2) compact guest rooms, and (3) a floor plan that prioritizes common areas. Many examples can be found in high-density urban areas with high land prices, such as New York and San Francisco.

①ANGLE operates under the concept of “sensing daily life,” viewing the experience of local life as tourism itself. It is located in areas with easy access to these tourism hubs—that is, shops and places that are an extension of everyday life.

② The guest rooms incorporate the Japanese custom of wearing indoor slippers by intentionally creating level changes to accommodate anticipated activities such as “storing (large) luggage,” “hanging clothes,” “unpacking,” “opening a laptop,” “using a smartphone,” and “sleeping.” Additionally, by maximizing existing openings, the rooms are designed to be compact yet comfortable.

③ The first-floor café is open to the street, and the third-floor terrace is open to guests; the floor plan prioritizes these shared spaces.

While the micro-hotel concept has typically been developed in high-density urban areas overseas, ANGLE leverages the richness of its low-density downtown setting. I believe this has allowed us to create an original micro-hotel concept originating from a regional city.
