This is a wooden house designed for a family of four, situated along the approach to a shrine at the end of a narrow alley.

It is a compact 20-tsubo home.
The northern half (10 tsubo) consists of a large open-plan space housing the living-dining-kitchen area and the entrance hall, while the southern half (10 tsubo) comprises a cluster of smaller private rooms, including the children’s room, master bedroom, and utility areas.

The floor of the northern half is set 700 mm higher than that of the southern half to ensure a view of the Kurushima Strait Third Bridge from the living room.
Furthermore, taking advantage of the site’s elevation difference (which slopes down approximately 700 mm from south to north), external storage was incorporated at the lower level of the northern half, while internal storage was placed at the upper level of the southern half.

By keeping the building height low to harmonize with the surrounding structures and creating an exterior that frames the approach to the site, we have created a home where a compact yet vertically expansive interior space coexists with a simple structural framework.
